UC Irvine’s Dr. Matthew Landry Named 2025 UCDC Presidential Faculty Fellow

Landry UCDC

Matthew Landry, PhD, RDN, FAND, assistant professor of population health and disease prevention, has been named a Spring 2025 UCDC Presidential Faculty Fellow, an honor awarded to just ten scholars nationwide. Organized by the University of California Washington Center (UCDC), this fellowship is designed to support faculty who are advancing research that can inform public policy and drive societal change. As a Fellow, Dr. Landry will receive exclusive access to professional development opportunities to bridge academic public health research and federal policy, including a weeklong program in Washington, DC.

Landry’s current research focuses on the intersection of diet and chronic disease prevention, particularly how clinical trials can best evaluate the impacts of plant-forward and plant-based dietary patterns. His work also delves into the importance of behavioral interventions that promote equitable nutrition, especially in low-resource settings and communities facing food insecurity and structural health disparities. Throughout his career, Landry has received numerous honors, including the Ethan Sims Young Investigator Award from The Obesity Society (2022) and recognition as a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (2022).

Landry’s selection as a UCDC Presidential Faculty Fellow reflects his ongoing commitment to aligning evidence-based nutrition research with public policy aimed at reducing health inequities. Congratulations once again to Dr. Matthew Landry!
